Important Tips:
Please be sure to talk to the doctor about any daily medication that you are currently taking,
especially for conditions related to the heart, diabetes, or blood pressure. Also, let the doctor
know if you are using any over-the-counter drugs such as Aspirin, Acetaminophen, Advil,
Motrin, herbal supplements, or vitamins. Your doctor will give you instructions about taking any
medication before surgery.
The Night Before Surgery
The night before the surgery, please do not eat or drink anything after midnight, including water,
for your own safety. This includes hard candy, gum, or prescription drugs unless directed by
your doctor. Undigested food in the stomach may cause complications, and your surgery is
likely to be delayed if you forget to follow any of these instructions.
